Grace Baptist Church - Associate Pastor of Music and Worship
Name: David Schmidt
Family: Wife - Hanna, Children - Bryce, Brady and Bailey
Education: Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Services, Chemekata Community College; three years of undergraduate work in Music, Biola University and Western Baptist College; Bachelor of Science Degree in Family Studies, Western Baptist College.
Personal Testimony: I was raised in a Christian family and accepted the Lord as my Savior at the age of four. I felt called into full time music ministry even as a child but it wasn't until age 31, and after working 8 years as a full-time fire fighter/paramedic, that the Lord opened that door at my home church.
Philosophy of Ministry: I believe that my ministry is to constantly keep in front of the congregration who God is and what we have as believers through His Son, Jesus Christ. I seek to do this through the use of music and the arts, which I believe to be powerful tools God has given us to communicate His truth. I am also convinced that we as a church must communicate His truth. Further, I am convinced that we as a church must remain united in our corporate worship and strive against divisions in this area at all cost. I believe that as a Worship Pastor I am to be an ardent supporter of my Senior Pastor and always seek to enhance his teaching ministry through the corporate worship time.
What is the most important part of your ministry? Developing faithful servants who have a heart for worship and ministry. I have often told those involved in our worship department that without them, I'm just some crazy guy waving his arms around. It is important that our congregation sees people on stage that love Jesus and love worshipping Him.
