Grace Baptist Church - Preamble, Article I and Article II

PREAMBLE

We rest our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, believing in the teachings of the Word of God and following the distinctive principles for which Conservative Baptists stand:

  1. The Bible is the sole authority for faith and practice (2 Tim. 3:16-17).
  2. The practice of two scriptural ordinances - baptism (Rom. 6:1-6) and The Lord’s Supper (I Cor. 11:23-26).
  3. The Priesthood of believers (I Peter 2:5,9).
  4. The brotherhood of believers (Romans 3:22b-26)
  5. The autonomy of the local church (Acts 15, 1 Cor.12:12-27).
  6. The separation of church and state (Matt. 22:15-21).
  7. The separation from theological liberalism (2 Cor. 6:11-18).

Therefore, we band ourselves together as a body of immersed believers in Jesus Christ and adopt for our government and service the following Constitution and By-laws. We hereby rescind all previous constitutions, by-laws and actions contrary to this Constitution and By-laws.
