Section 1. Purpose:

To fulfill God’s mission for our church, it will be necessary from time to time for the Staff and Deacon Board to delegate specific authority to others, in a manner similar to that recorded in Acts 6:1-6. The primary goal and purpose of these Ministry Teams or Committees is to support the church in the fulfillment of the Great Commission and the Great Commandment in coordination with the church’s master plan to achieve these goals. (Matthew 22:37-39, Matthew 28:18-20)

Section 2. Organization:

a) Ministry Teams and Committees may be formed or dissolved by the Staff and Deacon Board as required to serve the needs of the church.

b) At the time of formation, a team or committee will be given:

1) The vision for their ministry, and a list of their duties, goals, or objectives

2) Written instructions for the organizational and leadership structure of their team

3) A contact person, liaison or chain of authority with which to communicate needs and results, as appropriate

4) A budget, if appropriate If a committee or team is expected to remain active for more than one year, this information will be incorporated in a separate Ministry Team and Committee Handbook.

For leadership positions other than Staff, the term of office is not to exceed three consecutive years. The voting members of all teams and committees will be church members.

c) Ministry Teams and Committee leadership positions will be chosen by the Staff and Deacon Board from active church members who have demonstrated godly priorities, commitment to the church, and giftedness in the areas in which they are asked to serve. The Nominating Committee may be asked by the Deacon Board to help identify qualified members to fill positions.

d) The Senior Pastor serves as a non-voting, ex officio member of all Ministry Teams and Committees.

e) If a member of a Ministry Team or Committee does not fulfill the duties of his/her office properly as determined by the Deacon Board, that person’s term of service may be ended immediately at the discretion of the Deacon Board.

f) A roster of Ministry Team and Committee leaders will be reported in writing at the Annual Business Meeting.

g) Ministry Teams and Committees may make use of resources and people both intra-church and extra-church in a non-leadership function.

h) The Church’s Financial Team may be asked to provide funds in the budget for emerging ministry needs through the year.

Section 3. Budget:

If an annual budget allocation is required, Ministry Teams and Committees will submit a proposed annual budget covering all of its activities to the Deacon Board for review and consolidation into the unified Church Budget in October of the preceding year.
