Grace Baptist Church - Bylaws - Article L and Article M

ARTICLE L - ELECTIONS

Section 1. Time of Election:

Officers shall be elected at the Annual Business Meeting. Terms of office shall start February 1 and end February 15th of the following year.

Section 2. Nominations:

a.  Nominations shall be made by the Nominating Committee.

b.  Proposed nominees from members shall be submitted, in written form, to the Nominating Committee o­n or before November 1 of each year.

c.  The Nominating Committee shall present the list of candidates for election at the Annual Business Meeting.

Section 3. Voting:

a.  Voting shall be by written ballot.

b.  A majority of the votes cast shall be necessary for the election of officers.

Section 4. Appointments:

The Deacon Board may at any time during the year make appointments to fill vacancies, and/or meet Ministry Team needs. This shall include Deaconesses.


ARTICLE M - LICENSING AND ORDINATION

Section 1. Licensing:

Any member, who in the judgment of the Deacon Board has given evidence by his spirituality, zeal, and ability to teach, that he is called of God to work of the Gospel Ministry, may be licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, provided two-thirds of the membership at any meeting shall agree.

Section 2. Ordination:

a.  Upon unanimous agreement by the Deacon Board that a Pastor or o­ne of its licensed preachers who is taking up full-time ministerial work possesses the scriptural qualifications of a Pastor, it shall coordinate with CB Northwest to call a Council of Ministers and Brethren of CB Northwest to examine the qualifications of the candidate.

b.  To proceed with ordination, the church shall hold a business meeting to approve the candidate’s ordination by a 85% majority vote. A service will be held expressing formal recognition of the candidate as being set apart to the gospel ministry.
