Grace Baptist Church - Bylaws - Article E and Article F
ARTICLE E - MODERATOR
Section 1. Qualification:
The Moderator shall meet the qualifications for deacons found in I Timothy 3:8-13 and exhibit characteristics of consecration, dependability, leadership and initiative.
Section 2. Election and Term:
a. The Moderator shall be a man elected at the Annual Business Meeting for a term of one year. He shall not serve more than three terms in four years.
b. In the event of the absence or resignation of the Moderator, the Chairman of the Deacon Board will assume the duties of the Moderator until such time as the position is filled.
Section 3. Duties:
a. In the capacity of the Church Corporation, act as a designated legal agent of the church.
b. Attend all meetings of the Deacon Board of which he is a member.
c. Preside at all church business meetings.
d. Act as guide for proper procedure during business meetings.
e. Formulate the agenda for business meetings with the Pastors and the chairman of the Deacon Board
ARTICLE F - CHURCH TREASURER
Section 1. Qualifications of Church Treasurer:
The Church Treasurer shall be a person who meets the qualifications of either a Deacon or Deaconess and exhibits the characteristics of consecration, dependability, leadership and initiative. The Office of the Church Treasurer shall consist of Church Treasurer, Assistant Church Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Missions Treasurer.
Section 2. Election and Term:
The Treasurer’s offices shall be elected for a term of one year by the congregation at the Annual Business Meeting. They may succeed themselves in office.
Section 3. Duties of Church Treasurer:
The Church Treasurer shall lead a financial team consisting of Assistant Church Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Missions Treasurer, and bookkeeper to:
a. Implement the policies and directives of the Deacon Board.
b. Oversee the procedures for handling, banking and disbursing of all church funds.
c. Be the designated signer of checks prepared by the bookkeeper.
d. Forecast cash needs and advise the Deacon Board on optimum management of cash resources and debt financing.
e. Provide a written financial report to the Deacon Board monthly and to the church at its Business Meetings (or more often in requested). The report is to include an account of receipts and disbursements showing the actual financial condition of the church.
f. Oversee internal and external audits as indicated by the Deacon Board.
g. Work with the leadership of each ministry team to produce a yearly budget, and submit the unified budget to the Deacon Board two months prior to the annual business meeting for approval.
h. Supervise the other members of the financial team.
i. Support the leadership of the Deacon Board.
Section 4. Duties of Assistant Treasurer:
a. Assist the Church Treasurer in the performance of his duties.
b. Assume the duties of Church Treasurer in his absence.
c. Support the leadership of the Church Treasurer.
Section 5. Duties of Financial Secretary:
a. Establish and maintain confidential accounts for each contributor.
b. Keep records of individual contributions for 5 years.
c. Furnish an annual letter of receipts to donors.
d. Support the leadership of the Church Treasurer.
